Italian High Renaissance painter, medal engraver and goldsmith (Bologna, 1447 - Bologna, 5 January 1517). Apprentice of Francesco Squarcione. Master of Marcantonio Raimondi.

Francia was the leading Bolognese painter of his time. He was commissioned mainly to produce altarpieces but he was also accomplished an a sculptor and engraver. His style, with its soft outlines, was influenced by Pietro Perugino.
