Dutch painter of the Northern Renaissance (Leiden, ca. 1465 - Haarlem, ca. 1495). Master of the School of Holland. Apprentice of Aelbert van Ouwater in Haarlem. Spent most of his life at the Johannieter Monastry in Haarlem, hence his name.
