Louis Boullogne the Elder

French Baroque painter and engraver, father and master to Bon, Louis and Madeleine Boullogne, all painters. He also had a second daughter, Geneviève (c1645-1708), but she didn't left any work, despite her admission in the Academy on the same day than her sister (7 December 1669). She also married Jacques Charles Clérion, another academician.

He was a founding member of the French Academy, appointed on 1 February 1648; his reception piece was a Roman Charity. He became professor on 7 October 1656.
