Louis-Michel Van Loo
(French, 1707 - 1771)
French Rococo painter, son of Jean-Baptiste van Loo (1684-1745), nephew of Carle van Loo (1705-1765) and elder brother of François van Loo (1708-1732) and Charles Amédée Philippe van Loo (1717-1795).

He won the Prix de Rome of 1725 with Moïse enfant faisant tomber la couronne de Pharaon.

Like the other members of his family, he had a successful career, becoming Academician in 1733 (April 25). He was also appointed Court Painter of King Philip V of Spain and Spanish academician in 1752.

He mostly painted portraits of royal families.
