He lived at Manchester and Liverpool; he has been exhibited at the Royal Academy and at the Old Society of Painters in Watercolours from 1801 to 1815; he was among the founders of the Liverpool Academy (1810). He painted Wales, Scotland, North of England, mainly landscapes and churches. His works can be found at the British Museum, the Ashmolean Museum, Victoria and Albert Museum, City Art Gallery of Manchester, Maidstone Museum, Derby Art Gallery, Ulster Museum...
