Giovanni Battista Moroni (c. 1523 – February 5, 1578, also known as Giambattista Moroni) was a Late Renaissance Northern Italian. He is primarily known for elegantly realistic portraits of the local nobility and clergy. Moroni is considered one of the great portrait painters of sixteenth century Italy.
