Cesare Biseo
(Italian, 1843 - 1909)
Italian painter and illustrator, Rome 1843 – Rome 1909.

From 1868 onwards and at the invitation of the Viceroy of Egypt, he spent two years working in Alexandria and Cairo. In 1869, he executed mural paintings and décor for the newly-built Cairo Opera House which was opened in the same year with Verdi's Rigoletto. In 1875, he accompanied Edmondo De Amicis to Fez (Morocco), both being part of the first Italian embassy sent to the North African country (see also below).

C. Biseo contributed illustrations for the travel account Marocco by Edmondo De Amicis whom he had accompanied during his journey in 1875:

He also illustrated De Amicis's two-volume book Costantinopoli (1877-79).
