Wikipedia.  One of the founding members of the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood.  He, along with his friends, John Millais and Gabriel Rossetti wanted to return to the simplicity and seriousness of art as exemplified by the Italian Renaissance master, Raphael.  His brightly coloured paintings focused on moral and religious themes.
