Influential Flemish Baroque painter (1599-1641). Founder of British School of Portraiture (influenced Reynolds, Gainsborough, Sargent).  Van Dyck received many commissions during his lengthy time in England and he attracted a large studio of artists.  Many of his portraits were painted in his style by his assistants.
