Charles-Alphonse Dufresnoy
(French, 1611 - 1668)
This person is associated with: Baroque, Classicism

French classical painter.

He trained under Vouet and moved to Italy for most of his career, coming back to Paris only in 1656 and befriended with Pierre Mignard.

Few paintings from him are known, but he seemed closed to the Atticist movement as his compositions denote a severe classicism.

He is mostly famous for his poem De Arte Graphica, which he composed throughout his life.
