He was a pupil of Jean-Baptiste van Loo. He failed at the Prix de Rome of 1726, won by Allais (the subject is unknown), but he still went to the Eternal City.

He was appointed academician at an unknown date, then adjunct professor (2 July 1737). He died young at 36.
