Italian Baroque painter (Cento, 8 February 1591 - Bologna, 22 December 1666). Uncle of Bernardo Gennari.

Born Giovanni Francesco Barbieri and known as Guercino or Il Guercino. Worked mainly in Rome and Bologna. Guercino was one of the outstanding draughtsmen and painters of the 17th century. He was mainly self taught and drew his inspiration from north Italian artists and those from Venice.
