Austrian-Hungarian painter (Kratzau, 9 February 1800 - Vienna, 13 March 1876). 

He went to Rome in 1826, where he joined the Nazarene movement, lead by Cornelius and Overbeck. He returned to Austria in the 1830's and was appointed professor in the Academy of Vienna in 1846.
