Jean Broc
(French, 1771 - 1850)
This person is associated with: Neoclassicism
French neoclassical painter, from the group of the 'Barbus' (the Bearded ones), who wanted to focus further on the line as depicted on Greek pottery, in order to strengthen Neoclassicism. Their master, Jacques Louis David, disagreed and fired them from his workshop after some critics. This event probably hindered Broc's career since only a few paintings from him are known.
