French landscape painter  He was a member of the Barbizon school of landscape painters, who worked in and around the village of Barbizon (Fontainebleau) in the mid-19th century.

Dupré exhibited first at the Salon in 1831, and three years later was awarded a second-class medal. In the same year he went to England, where he was impressed by the works of the English artist, Constable.  He learnt how to express movement in nature with the expanses of sky in different weather conditions.  The artist was awarded the Légion d'honneur in 1848.
