Alphonse Legros
(French, 1837 - 1911)
Alphonse Legros
by Henri Fantin-Latour

French-born from Dijon, Legros settled in England and became a British citizen in 1881.  He remained a painter in the old tradition and didn't aspire to the current trends in the Impressionist movements in the late 19th Century.
