Simon Marmion
(French, 1425 - 1489)
Franco-Flemish manuscript illustrator and painter. It is believed he was born in Amiens but spent most of his life in Valenciennes, where he is first documented in 1458. Few of his works with full attribution survive. These include panels from an altarpiece for the Abbey of St Bertin, St-Omer (Berlin Gemaldegalerie and the National Gallery, London).
