Henry Moore OM.
(English, 1898 - 1986)

Born in Castleford, Yorkshire, Moore's sculptures are mostly semi abstract forms of the human figure, usually the female figure.  In the 1950s he concentrated on family groups;  he also did purely abstract sculpures.  He has become the best known British sculptor of the 20th century and many of his large-scale works can be seen on public display around the world.
