Jacob Henricus Maris (born August 25, 1837 in The Hague - died August 7, 1899 in Karlsbad) was a Dutch painter. Along with his brothers Willem and Matthijs, he is categorised with the Hague School of painters. He is especially well known for his atmospheric landscape paintings of the Dutch countryside.
