Giacinto Gigante

Giacinto Gigante (Naples, 1806 - 1876), Italian romantic painter. He is considered the foremost exponent of the 19th-century Neapolitan "Posillipo School" of painting. Best known for his landscapes. Studied briefly in Naples with Dutch painter Anton Sminck Pitloo. He won the drawing competition at the Naples Royal Institute of Fine Arts in 1824.
