Théodore Chassériau
(French, 1819-1856)
Samaná(Dominican Republic) 1819 - Paris 1856
French painter, pupil of Ingres and later much influenced by Delacroix. He first exhibited in 1836. In 1846 and after, he travelled several times to Algeria.
