Notes:
Title - Honorific titles such as "Sir" (for a person who has been knighted), "Lord" or "Lady," etc. Do not enter titles such as "Mr.," "Mrs.," "Esq.," and so on.

Single name - If you are entering someone who has only one name, enter it in the first name box, leaving middle and last name blank.

Display name - This is the name that is usually displayed for the person. It saves the trouble of figuring out how to arrange the parts of the name, title, etc. For instance, you might let us know to print "George Gordon, Lord Byron," or "Frederick, Lord Leighton". If you leave the display name field blank, it defaults to Title + First name + Last name + Suffix.

Alternate or common name - This is not the person's actual name, but may be an alternate name, or perhaps even the most common name. For example, Alessandro Filipepi is more commonly known by his nickname, "Botticelli," and the early English king Alfred is known as "Alfred the Great". These names will usually be listed in parentheses after the real name, and they will be included in name searches.

Profession - These categories will be added to as we expand the types of people listed on the site.
