Zeus, the ruler of the Greek gods of Mount Olympus, is a well-known figure even today. The youngest son of the Titans Cronus and Rhea, he ruled Olympus with his sister and wife Hera. He was the father of several of the gods, including Athena, Apollo, Aphrodite, Ares, and Hermes, and is famous for his affairs with mortals in various guises, includng a bull, a swan, and even a fog.
Zeus was a god of weather, and one of his primary symbols is the lightning bolt. He is equivalent to the Roman god Jupiter (aka Jove). |
