Topic: Polyptychs and several images per artwork

Hello Chris,

I would like to improve your records of Early Netherlandish artists, but they painted a lot of diptychs, triptychs and polyptychs which cannot be represented with a single image. For instance, the Garden of Earthly Delights by Bosch is painted on both sides of the panels: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Garden … y_Delights
I think it could be interesting to allow several images to be uploaded per artwork to fix that problem. Therefore uploaders could also put subsequent images to stress details of a painting, as Wikipedia does; for example, member Laure9 posted several photos of Raphael's frescos by creating new artworks, but this is a bit messy: http://www.the-athenaeum.org/art/list.p … 42&p=2 (I will rework this artist soon).

Josselin.

Re: Polyptychs and several images per artwork

Hey there Josselin,
This has been on the "to do list" for some time. The challenge is that it's a fundamental re-write of how the database stores artworks and images, so it will have to be done carefully. For now, making that change will have to wait for a few other (and simpler) changes I have in mind. But let's not forget about it!

Thanks,
Chris
