In the Pearlman Collection (USA). The Chateau Noir was on a hillside to the east of Aix-en-Provence and afforded views of Mont Sainte-Victoire, the mountain that Cezanne painted a number of times. The artist painted in this region on a number of occasions including the Chateau itself.
